Czech Star David Jarolim Extends Stay At Hamburg
Hamburg have received a boost a day before their DFB Pokal semi-final with Werder Bremen as captain David Jarolim has extended his contract with the club…
Hamburg's Czech skipper David Jarolim has taken the decision to extent his current deal at the HSH Nordbank Arena until June 30, 2012, the club have announced.
The 29-year-old moved to the north German side in 2003 from Nuremberg and has since become one of the club’s most influential players.
“I am very happy here and in the past few years things have always got better and better,” Jarolim told the club’s website. “I am proud to be part of their development.”
The Rothosen are still in with a chance of clinching a historic treble of Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and UEFA Cup under trainer Martin Jol.
They meet rivals Werder Bremen in the semi-finals of both cup competitions and are well placed in the league with six games remaining, sitting just three points adrift of leaders Wolfsburg.
Jol has expressed his delight that a key player has decided to stay.
“He has shown that as captain he is a role-model and I am very happy that he is staying with us,” Jol said.
