Pique: Barca will snare Cesc

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says he is quietly confident that the Spanish club will be successful in their pursuit of Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas.Former Manchester United star Pique reckons it's only a matter of time before Barca finally persuade Fabregas to return to the Nou Camp with the midfielder's future still uncertain.Fabregas left Barcelona for Arsenal as a teenager but now at the age of 22, he is being tipped for a homecoming.
But Pique has quashed reports linking his international team-mate with a move to arch-rivals Real Madrid and says he is certain that Fabregas will return to Barcelona.
"I wouldn't be happy at all (if Fabregas signed for Madrid)," Pique told Sport. "And I don't think it will happen.
"In football you can't say something is impossible, but I don't think Cesc will sign for Madrid.
"I am sure that we will end up together one day or another.
"Cesc will end up wearing the Barca shirt, I've always said that. Even if he doesn't want to admit it, I've always told him the same thing."

Freddie Ljungberg thinks Arsenal have paid the price for moving to Emirates Stadium and is demanding answers over Arsene Wenger's transfer policy. Ljungberg won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup three times during his trophy-laden nine years under Wenger, but the Swedish star admits the Gunners' plight has left him sad and searching for the truth.
Skipper Cesc Fabregas launched an attack on Wenger's side and reportedly branded Arsenal 'impotent' following another trophyless season at the Emirates. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Ljungberg wants to know what is going on.
"I get sad just to look at the results in the last couple of years," said the midfielder now playing for Seattle Sounders in America.
"When I played at Arsenal they always said if you don't win a trophy every year then it was not good enough. That is the mentality the players have.
"It's hard, I hope they turn it around."
Wenger steered Arsenal to another top-four finish last season and semi-finals of both the Champions League and FA Cup , but the Arsenal boss had a fiery exchange with shareholders, who questioned his lack of spending in the transfer market.
Arsenal have not won a trophy since they moved to the Emirates in 2005 and with debts of around £416million, Ljungberg is worried the club may not be able to afford any decent replacements should Fabregas move to Madrid.
"The feeling I get is the financial situation is a bit tight and it is because of the new stadium," Ljungberg, 32, added.
"What is the state of the club? Can they spend money or not? Nobody has ever come out and said why they are not spending.
"Everyone is asking that question."
