Fabregas attacks 'impotent' Arsenal and sounds out Madrid move
Cesc Fabregas has launched a scathing attack on 'impotent' Arsenal and says he may consider a move to Real Madrid because of the lack of success at the Emirates. The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona but says his family would understand if he wanted to go to the Bernabeu so he can finally taste success on the pitch.
It will be at least five years before Arsenal win something and for skipper Fabregas, that is just not good enough.
"The absence of titles at Arsenal is what angers me the most," he said.
"Cristiano Ronaldo said he's leaving Manchester United because he had nothing else to win. For me right now it is the exact opposite, seeing the impotence here.
"This year we wanted it, we were giving everything - but we couldn't reach the level that everyone expected of Arsenal.
"When you win, you're well. But when you don't, everyone is in a bad mood. For four years now, we've needed a title to regain our belief in ourselves."
Fabregas' discontent will worry manager Arsene Wenger. The Spaniard has made his desire to move to Spain public in the past, although it was suggest Barcelona would be in pole position to sign him. Fabregas begun his career at the Nou Camp and his family are staunch supporters of the Catalan club but that does not mean he wouldn't consider a switch to their arch rivals Real.
Of course my family would understand if I signed for Real Madrid because they love me, they want me to be happy and what is best for me," he added.
"They'd support me - whichever club I joined. My family will always be there for me - whatever decision I make. They're the ones who are always by my side."
The two Spanish giants are likely to test Wenger's resolve with a bid for Fabregas and the 22-year-old says he would welcome a change because he is not happy with life in the Arsenal dressing room.
"I am now at Arsenal, where there isn't this social group which is so human, so friendly, a group of normal people like my friends. We don't talk about things too much," he said.
