"I know what I'm capable of"interview with Badstuberbundesliga.de: Mr Badstuber, congratulations on your first victory of the season. How much of a weight was it off your shoulders?
Holger Badstuber: Of course it was a big load off our minds after only picking up two points from our first three games, that's far too little for a club like FC Bayern. It was really important that we got the win and thankfully we managed to do so.
bundesliga.de: What was the atmosphere like ahead of the match against the reigning champions?
Holger Badstuber: After the loss in Mainz, of course we were all hurting, but we got ourselves fired up and were completely focussed on the Wolfsburg game. The atmosphere was actually ok.
bundesliga.de: The defence has come in for a bit of criticism recently, yet against the so-called most dangerous attack in the league you managed to keep a clean sheet...
Holger Badstuber: It was a relief to show that we can keep a clean sheet. We managed to do so in pre-season against Manchester United and now we've shown we can do it in the Bundesliga, which was important.
bundesliga.de: Would you say that your focus is higher against more renowned strikers?
Holger Badstuber: No. You always have to be 100% focussed no matter who you are playing against. If you prepare properly and keep your focus then you can take on anyone.
bundesliga.de: How much of Louis van Gaal's new system would you say the team has taken on board so far?
Holger Badstuber: 100 per cent! It takes time to implement a new system, though, and we have several new players at the club. Still, we've always understood his ideas.
bundesliga.de: What do you think of your new teammate Arjen Robben?
Holger Badstuber: He's world-class! He came on in the second half and scored two goals, so obviously it was a dream start for him. He's a good lad and I'm sure he'll improve the team.
bundesliga.de: The international break hasn't come at the best of times for you, one imagines...
Holger Badstuber: Well, the international players have just gone away but when they come back we'll just carry on where we left off against Wolfsburg and aim for our next win.
bundesliga.de: What is your summary of the first four Bundesliga games?
Holger Badstuber: The first three games didn't go as well as we'd hoped and we gave away some silly points, but now we've got our first win we want to make amends and climb the table as quickly as possible.
bundesliga.de: And how about your own personal form?
Holger Badstuber: I always approach every match with the same attitude and I know what I'm capable of. The fact that Louis van Gaal wants to build the team around young players can only bode well for me.
