Italy are fourth in the final FIFA world rankings of 2009, behind only Spain, Brazil and Holland, while England are ninth.
The last set of statistics for the calendar year was unveiled today and the Azzurri are very close to Holland, having 1,209 points compared to the Dutch 1,288.
Euro 2008 winners Spain continue to lead the way with 1,627 and Brazil are in second on 1,568 points.
The top 10 is completed by Portugal, Germany, France, Argentina, Fabio Capello’s England and Croatia.
The next FIFA world rankings will be unveiled on February 3 2010.
