Just a few weeks into the new season and the ongoing war of words between Inter coach Jose Mourinho and the rest of Italian football is in full swing.
Following the Nerazzurri’s much-criticized performance against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday, the former Chelsea manager insisted that “our group is no joke: there is no Zurich…”
But Zurich happen to be in the same group as cross-city rivals Milan and Diavoli chief executive Adriano Galliani has wasted no time in hitting back.
“There is a more than valid reason why we have been drawn with Zurich: we are the only Italian side among the top seeds,” Galliani said to Sport Mediaset.
“And I would also like to point out that Zurich are the Swiss champions. And I remind anyone having a short memory that Milan have won ten international trophies in the last ten years, while those who are winning in Italy are still stuck on zero.
“It’s true that in life you can never get fully satisfied, but whoever complains or criticizes needs to be reminded of these details.”
