Bayern Munich legend Franz Beckenbauer believes his side will beat Juventus tomorrow night but only 1-0 and in the 89th minute.
The German giants need a victory in Turin if they are to have any hope of progressing to the next round of the Champions League.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Beckenbauer said: “It will be hard work because of Juventus's advantageous position and also their strength at home.
“They are a concrete team, very physical and difficult to beat. You saw what happened against Inter, didn't you? And we need a win.”
Asked how he would go about winning the game if he were still a player, Beckenbauer said: “I had a coach at Bayern when I was a young lad called Branko Zebec. He said three words to us: patience, patience, patience. Keep it at 0-0 until a chance comes along then be ruthless in that moment. Bayern should also behave like this: they should think about defending first and then the goal will surely come.
“Zebec's rule is valid for those teams who play but also for those who impose themselves on the game.”
The 64-year-old then denied reports Bayern would sack Louis van Gaal if he were to fail to secure qualification to the second round.
“Nothing will happen. We will do the UEFA Cup or whatever you call it now. It's a valid tournament. Van Gaal stays. He is turning the team around with three consecutive victories. His work is starting to function. We will not send him away now.”
Finally Beckenbauer gave his prediction for Tuesday's game.
“Bayern: 1-0. But in the 89th minute so they have no time to come back,” he concluded.
