Xavi: “We all wish for Pep to continue”In a routinely scheduled press-conference held at the club yesterday, FC Barcelona central-midfielder Xavi Hernandez delved into the issue surrounding Pep Guardiola’s contract renewal, and voiced his opinion on the matter.
“He is the fundamental piece that keeps this gear going, and I am pretty sure his renewal is forthcoming.”
“No one can imagine Barcelona without Guardiola, and neither can I. He is the best coach that we can have, and we all wish for him to continue.”
“I believe Pep wants to continue, I can see that he is relaxed (about the matter). He still has the same enthusiasm that he had the first day he arrived, and personally, I feel that he has to renew, just like everyone else.”
“Besides, the numbers say it all; he is the best coach in the club’s history.”
Finally, Xavi said he is convinced that Guardiola will make his decision regardless of what happens in the elections: “He is intelligent, and knows what to do. He is not a self-centred person, and has always looked out for the team’s best interest. This time it will be not be the exception. If he wants to renew, he will, but everything depends on him.”
