Manchester City Offer €15 Million For Real Madrid's Fernando Gago - Report
With Ruud van Nistelrooy's move to Hamburg nearing completion, Real Madrid could be ready to offload another of their fringe players this month.
According to a report in Marca, Manchester City have made an offer of €15 million for Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago. The English side, managed by former Inter coach Roberto Mancini, have already brought in Patrick Vieira this month and are eager to add strength in depth in midfield.
Gago's agent, Marcelo Lombilla, is currently travelling to Madrid in order to meet with club president Florentino Perez and director-general Jorge Valdano. Lombilla's intention is to persuade los Blancos' management that Gago's departure is the best option for all parties.
The Argentine, who has also been attracting attention from former club Boca Juniors and English outfit Everton, is keen to leave the club in order to boost his World Cup chances after only appearing five times in the league this season.
There has been no confirmation from either clubs as yet, but coach Manuel Pellegrini has omitted Gago from his squad to face Malaga on Sunday due to a heel injury.
