Zac shows Fulham respect Wednesday 17 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alberto Zaccheroni demands “utmost concentration” from Juventus at Craven Cottage, especially as he is forced to make changes.
The Bianconeri lead Fulham 3-1 from the first leg and travel to London for tomorrow’s Europa League decider.
“The approach has to be one that is usually reserved for these home and away ties and that means the utmost concentration,” said Zac.
“We have respect for Fulham based on what they have done so far in the competition and the difficulties they caused us in the first leg.
“They have an excellent defence and a Coach who knows Italian football well. It’s also true that our own team hasn’t always done well this season, so we need to be very focused.”
The injury list remains extensive with Gianluigi Buffon, Alex Manninger, Amauri, Martin Caceres, Sebastian Giovinco and Giorgio Chiellini joined by the suspended Jonathan Zebina.
“A few changes will be necessary and I have to evаluate those who had a few fitness problems against Siena.
“It is without doubt that tomorrow will be a very difficult game, both physically and psychologically, with a very high tempo and level of intensity. We need players in a condition to handle that.”
Juventus are the only Italian side left in the Europa League and hope to follow in the footsteps of Inter, who progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals in London last night.
“It was a great victory for Italian football, not just because it takes Serie A into the final eight and relaunches our sport on the international stage, but also in the way it was achieved.
“We care a great deal – I underline, a great deal – about getting through to the next round. We cannot start making a list of what is more important, so we’ll face every game with extreme conviction.”
The biggest problem is that both first team goalkeepers are out of action, while Antonio Chimenti disappointed in Sunday’s 3-3 draw with Siena.
“I have already decided who will start in goal, but I cannot tell the media until I have told the players,” explained Zaccheroni.
“I’m sure youth team shot-stopper Pinsoglio has a great future ahead of him, but in the six weeks I’ve been here, I have yet to see an entire match.”

Del Piero's message to Beckham Wednesday 17 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alessandro Del Piero hopes to end his London taboo against Fulham and sends a message to David Beckham.
“I am so sad at what happened to Beckham,” wrote the Juventus captain on his official website.“With two months to the World Cup and in the thick of the Scudetto race, it’s really difficult to come to terms with such a serious injury that in a few seconds takes it all away.
“I am particularly saddened for David because I know him well. He’s a good guy, a great professional and above all someone who is propelled by the unstoppable passion for football and sport.
“This is what allowed him to stay at the top for many years, accepting new challenges and winning them. Dear David, I am convinced this will be another challenge you’ll win.
“Hang in there and good luck. We’ll meet again on the pitch.”Beckham has been told he won’t play again for six months after tearing the Achilles tendon during Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo.
Del Piero knows all about serious injuries, as it could be argued he never quite recovered from a devastating knee injury in 1998.
Nonetheless, last week he scored his 301st goal as a professional and hopes to add more at Craven Cottage.
“It will be a very difficult game due to Fulham’s characteristics,” he said of the Europa League second leg tie.
“Of course we want to go forward in the competition, but must take every game as it comes and not look too far ahead. Obviously progress would be important both in terms of results and prestige.
“There is another reason I am eager to do well here, as I’ve always lost in London. I lost to Arsenal and Chelsea, but I have good memories of Old Trafford.”Del Piero confessed he was in no mood to celebrate the brace against Siena on Sunday, as Juventus were leading 3-0 after 10 minutes only to be pegged back on 3-3.
“We analysed the match from many different angles. The Coach is trying to get the message into us that we must be absolutely concentrated for 90 minutes and we hope not to get into this situation again.”
