Balotelli: 'Inter won, not Mourinho!' Monday 22 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mario Balotelli enjoyed the gift of a Milan jersey and pointed out “it was the team that won at Stamford Bridge, not Jose Mourinho.”
The Inter striker has been frozen out for over a week following a row with his Coach, although the reasons behind it are unclear.
“Why am I not playing? There’s no point asking me, you need to ask those who are higher up,” he told comedy show Striscia La Notizia.
“I don’t know, maybe the other players are just stronger than I am.”
Some reports suggest he celebrated when Milan – the side he supported as a child – closed the gap on the leaders to one point.
With this in mind, the television crew gave him the gift of a Rossoneri jersey with his name, which he held up to his chest with a broad grin.
He then pulled it on and checked himself out in the mirror wearing the shirt of Inter’s great rivals.
When the presenter told Balotelli that the fact he was frozen out and yet Inter still beat Chelsea in the Champions League made it a victory for Mourinho, he was unimpressed.
“Whose victory was it?! No way, it was the team that won at Stamford Bridge, not Mourinho.”
'Mou is too severe with Balotelli' Monday 22 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disgraced former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi believes Jose Mourinho isn't going about the right way of treating Mario Balotelli.
Mourinho has dropped the 19-year-old striker from each of his last three match squads after a spat with the player and his entourage.
Speaking on Studio Stadio, Moggi said: “I don't agree with the way Inter are managing the Balotelli case.
“In these situations there must be total synergy between the Coach and the directors to pick the best path to follow.
“I think Mourinho is too severe with Balotelli. I would think about this 100 times before depriving myself of a player like him, especially with the final stretch approaching.”
Having said that, Moggi doesn't believe Inter are at risk of throwing away the Scudetto.
The Nerazzurri haven't won in three matches and their lead at the top of Serie A has been cut to just one point.
“Milan failed the overtaking manoeuvre above all because Napoli played at a superior rhythm to the Rossoneri.
“Anyway in the sprint for the Scudetto I always see Inter as the big favourite and if I have to choose a team that can threaten them the most I would pick Roma rather than Milan.
“This is because Toni cannot but still improve also in view of the World Cup and there is also the return of Totti to consider,” Moggi concluded.
Moratti tells Balotelli to wake up Monday 22 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter President Massimo Moratti has told his temperamental young striker Mario Balotelli that it's time he did his part for the team.
The precocious Italy Under-21 international has been dropped from Inter's last three match squads after a spat with Jose Mourinho.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Moratti was asked if he thinks it's time Balotelli started justifying his place at Inter.
“Absolutely yes. He needs to put himself back on the wagon immediately. Now we need his contribution and he has to give it.
“When and how is up to Mourinho.”
Moratti then denied being worried after Inter's disappointing 1-1 draw with Palermo on Saturday.
“I saw the best 20 or 25 minutes of the season from Inter in Palermo. We scored. We could have doubled our lead. And in the end, despite everything, we have tried again, pushing with three strikers plus Sneijder.
“I am calm and proud of a team that obviously knows how to get back to business after carrying a big game like that against Chelsea on its shoulders.
“Sure now it's necessary to rediscover the victory also in the championship, otherwise all other arguments can fall away,” he concluded.
They can't catch us, says Mou Monday 22 March, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Inter boss Jose Mourinho apparently rallied his players at training this morning with a cry of 'they can't catch us'.
Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Mourinho was keen to play down Inter's worst run in the League since the 2004-05 season.
Milan had the opportunity to go top on Sunday after Inter's 1-1 draw with Palermo, but they muffed their lines and also ended up drawing at home to Napoli.
“They have wasted a big chance and now can't catch us anymore,” Mourinho apparently said.
Inter haven't won any of their last three games in Serie A and are now just one point ahead of Milan.
Massimo Moratti and Julio Cesar both claimed they were unconcerned and that the team is fully focused ahead of Wednesday's match against Livorno.
Inter then travel to face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday in what could be another title decider in Serie A.
