Manchester City Will Break The British Transfer Record For Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas - ReportIt is speculated that City owner Sheikh Mansour has given the green-light to the move, after confessing his wish to add creativity to the Citizens’ midfield.
The Citizens will attempt to prise Fabregas away from the Emirates this summer, despite interest from Barcelona.
It's reported manager Roberto Mancini has drawn up his own transfer ‘wish-list’ consisting of Fabregas, Fernando Torres and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which the owners have agreed to on the premise City earn a fourth-place finish.
Former Inter Milan manager Mancini has also been reported to have expressed an interest in his former protégé Mario Balotelli, with the Italian under-21 international linked with a move away from the San Siro and a possible reunion with his old coach.
Fabregas would however, head Mancini's list of marquee signings, with Jerome Boateng, Angel di Maria and
David Luiz all reportedly linked with a move to Eastlands, as they head for loftier ambitions of a title challenge next season.
Despite on-going rumours linking Fabregas with a return to his boyhood club, it is believed City are undeterred by Barcelona’s interest and will press ahead to add the Spain international to their squad.
Having already convinced Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor to join the City revolution last summer, it would be seen as a major scalp for Mancini’s side if Arsenal’s most valued asset were to join his former team-mates as part of City’s on-going evolution.
However, it is clear that City will have to demonstrate their pedigree by not only successfully finishing in the final Champions League place this season, but also show real intentions of competing for silverware in the forthcoming years
