Micah Richards Targets Weekend Game With Arsenal For His Manchester City ReturnManchester City defender Micah Richards has targted the weekend game against Arsenal to make his comeback from a knee injury.
The England international has missed City's last four games with the problem but is determined to play some part before the end of the season in the club's push for a fourth-placed finish.
"I am going to train later this week as long as it is comfortable and hopefully be available for the Arsenal game," Richards told reporters at the opening of a new recording studio for young people at the Sporting Edge Community Centre.
"It is going to be hard for me to walk straight back in after three weeks out but that is up to the manager. All I can do is work hard."
The 21-year-old also remains keen to claim a surprise spot in Fabio Capello's squad for this summer's World Cup finals in South Africa, although he admits that he faces a tough task if he is to succeed in that objective.
"Being injured has put a bit of a damper on things but I am remaining positive by training hard. I will give 100 per cent and take it as it comes," he said.
Meanwhile, as the climax to the season intensifies, the City squad are taking the edge off the pressure by going go-karting today.
"That will take our mind off things and help us relax," Richards explained.
"We always do stuff together, like going out for dinner or going bowling. All the lads get on."
