International superclub Manchester United will play an exhibition game in Toronto this summer as part of a North American barnstorming tour, according to reports.
The SportsBusiness Journal quoted sources on Monday saying that United’s long-rumoured trans-Atlantic visit has been finalized for July.
The English Premiership champions would play in Major League Soccer’s as-yet unscheduled all-star game in Houston then play friendly matches in Boston, Philadelphia and Toronto.
The likely venue for the game is the Rogers Centre, owing to its 55,000-person seating capacity. There is no word on an opponent.
The last time United toured North America in 2004, they played other big, touring European clubs Celtic, AC Milan and Bayern Munich.
