Manchester City fans fail in wind up attempt
Manchester City fans revealed a new level of stupidity today by claiming that they tried and failed to steal our famour ‘34 years’ banner from the Stretford End.
The banner represents the number of years City have gone without winning a trophy, and the ‘handful’ of City supporters who planned to steal it; aimed to burn it at the derby last week.
The ignorant bitters paid to go on the Old Trafford tour, and planned to deviate from he party and head in the direction of the banner. Fortunately the stringent security measures in place inside the stadium halted their cunning plan.
So not only did they fail in their attempt to commit a criminal act, they also paid for the privilege of doing so. Thanks City , for providing us with comedy gold for 34 long and glorious years.
This is how it feels to be City…

United hero: I didn't want to leave

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently suggested that allowing Jaap Stam to leave the club in 2001 was one of the gravest errors of his Old Trafford tenure, and as if to endorse the Scot’s point, the towering Dutchman admits he never wanted to leave in the first place.
Stam returns to Old Trafford on May 1st for a Sport Relief charity match involving many of Manchester United’s 1999 Treble heroes, and ahead of his return, the former AC Milan defender suggests he never intended to leave the club at that time.
Manchester United sold Stam to Lazio for £16.5 million in 2001, and although he was 30-years-old he went on to prove he still had plenty to offer with a decent spell in Serie A.
The Manchester United hero told the Daily Mirror: “I'd really enjoyed myself at the club and thought I'd been doing well up to that point so it was hard at the time I left,"
"It all happened very quickly because of the Champions League deadline – Lazio needed to register me as their player.”
"It wasn't an easy moment, but that's what happens in football - players come and go and unfortunately it was me who had to go then.”
"I had a great time at United – I met some great people and I had a good relationship with everybody at the club – the boss, players, staff and fans."
"I'm really looking forward to coming back. It's been a while since I was at Old Trafford, especially as a player, and it’ll be great to see some old friends,"
"I loved my time at United and I’m sure I’ll get that same buzz when I pull on the red shirt.
"I still remember how it felt when you stepped out of the tunnel and you saw the crowd and it was always a great feeling. It’ll be a thrill to be back there.”
"I've played in some great teams but the [1998-99 United] Treble side is the best I’ve been involved with. There was a great balance to the team and we always believed in ourselves."
