SAF To Freshen Up The Side:
Sir Alex Ferguson has promised to bolster Manchester United in the summer with new players, even if they are able to leapfrog Chelsea and win the Premier League title on Sunday.
Ferguson admitted that several United players will be on their way out after the season.
Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick and Ben Foster are some of the players that could depart Old Trafford, and Ferguson could be prepared to rework his squad despite being in contention for the Premier League title on the season’s final day.
“What I have to make decisions on now is how we can improve the team,” Ferguson told The Mirror.
“Are we ready to build a new team?
“Because when you challenge for four titles in a row, two European Cups, League Cup finals and FA Cup finals, there is a draining effect.
“You have to be aware of that and spot the moment when it’s time to freshen, time to change one or two players.
“It’s not a desire to do it; it’s a need to do it, simply because the demands and pressure on players over a long period can be demanding.
United have already made some moves to bring young talent to Old Trafford next season, and with the new signing combined with the players that are already on the team, Ferguson believes the future is bright for the Red Devils.
“People don’t recognise that we’ve signed three players for £20million already.
“Young Chris Smalling from Fulham has signed for us, Mame Diouf has done well, and Javier Hernandez from Mexico will join us after the World Cup.
“Those are three young players whose futures are guaranteed at this club.
“There are others who come into that bracket like Jonny Evans, Federico Macheda, Gabriel Obertan, Danny Welbeck and Darron Gibson.
“So we have a good nucleus and foundation of players who can carry the club for a long time.”

DAVID Silva has said it would be hard to resist the lure of Manchester United if Sir Alex Ferguson makes a move for him this summer.Ferguson has been keeping tabs on Valencia and Spain winger Silva ever since their Euro 2008 triumph.
Silva is flattered by United’s interest and hinted he is ready to test his skills in the Premier League after the World Cup.

“When you hear a club like Manchester United is interested in you it is an honour,” said Silva. “I am very aware of the Premier League, and in recent years it has been the stand-out league in the world. If it came calling, especially if it was a club like Manchester United, it would be very hard to resist.
“I am happy at Valencia but every player has his price and if they get an offer they think is good business anything is possible.”Ferguson has revealed that he talked Paul Scholes out of retirement.
Scholes, unhappy that he was no longer a regular, talked in mid-season of hanging up his boots but Ferguson persuaded him to sign a new one-year contract.
Ferguson, writing in the club’s official magazine Inside United, said: “I told him, ‘I’ll decide when you retire. Look, Paul, you can play, there’s no question of that’.
“In fact, he is every bit as good, if not even better, because of the experience he has added to his ability.”
