What a Terryble mess, lads
JOHN TERRY landed in hot water with his team-mates after his rally cry went wrong
England stars rage at Terry
Published: Today
ENGLAND'S World Cup camp was in meltdown last night over John Terry.
Many players are furious after the former skipper claimed they were ready to challenge boss Fabio Capello about aspects of his regime.
Terry, stripped of the captaincy by Capello, said yesterday that up to 10 of the squad had a meeting over a beer following Friday's dismal 0-0 draw with Algeria.
He said: "If we have an argument with the manager and it upsets him or any other player, so what?
"If we can't be honest with each other then there's no point in us being here."
Terry revealed points had been raised which were to be put to Capello at a team meeting as they prepared for the must-win clash with Slovenia on Wednesday.
However, players and their agents rushed to distance themselves from Terry's comments.
The FA are trying to play down talk of rifts in the camp but it seems they are fighting a losing battle - especially when such a high-profile figure as Terry, 29, causes such a split with his team-mates.
Terry added: "Everyone needs to get it off his chest and say exactly how we feel. As a group of experienced players, we owe it to ourselves and our country and our manager."
Players are angry the Chelsea star named individuals at Friday's impromptu meeting, including Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard. They strongly believe he talked "out of school".
Management and players dissuaded Terry from raising issues in last night's team talk as Capello went through a DVD of the Algeria game.
But the question of Capello naming his team only two hours before kick-off was raised, as was the issue of how to get Rooney on the ball more often.

Fab: It’s 2 years wasted
From ROB BEASLEY
FABIO CAPELLO delivered his own damning verdict on England's World Cup flops by insisting: I feel like I've wasted the last two years.
The England coach is now desperately distancing himself from the Three Lions debacle here in South Africa - even claiming he cannot be blamed if we crash out of the World Cup on Wednesday.
The Italian said: "It does feel like the last two years have been a waste of time. I don't know why or how the players have arrived at this point.
"The training is very good so I can't understand the way during the game that they don't transfer their training form on to the pitch - they can't seem to change speed.
"We were really, really slow and at this World Cup if you don't run, if you don't press and if you don't fight, it becomes very difficult.
"So I'm not happy because you work hard for 20 days, you do all the preparations, you see everything during training but then, on the pitch, it is all completely different.
"But I can look in the mirror in the morning and say 'you worked hard, yes; you studied everything, yes; you prepare everything, yes'.
"But then the football is so different. So that's why I am unhappy because we prepare everything properly every time.
"But, for a manager, when you can't see what you've prepared happen during the game, then it's not easy to understand what happened to the minds of the players.
"I remember during the match thinking about the problem of the pressure, the fear that stops the legs, that stops the mind, that stops everything.
"I was a player and I know the problem. It happens sometimes in important matches, this pressure.
"But we still have one last chance to go forward.
"It is a big, big challenge. It is big pressure, big pressure for me and the team but it always is.
"And they know, the players know. I'm hoping now for a reaction from the players. I hope so, I'm hoping for a lot more."

FABIO CAPELLO will have a heart-to-heart with Wayne Rooney ahead of the big showdown with Slovenia on Wednesday.
There are serious worries over the Manchester United striker's mood and poor form in the two games against the USA and Algeria.
Capello cannot understand why Rooney is looking like he is carrying the world on his shoulders.
He has admitted there is a problem in the striker's mind but cannot establish what is causing it.
Capello has one theory that Rooney is feeling too responsible for the team performance and that others have to help him out.
Jermain Defoe could be asked to partner Rooney in attack against Slovenia.
And Joe Cole is also set to finally get his chance but the Chelsea playmaker is not certain to start.
