MAN UNITED
EDWIN VAN DER SAR 7 - Had a solid game, predominantly making comfortable saves from long-range efforts. Can't be faulted for either Fulham goal and made a superb double stop from Etuhu which lesser keepers wouldn't have.
JOHN O'SHEA 6 - The Irishman is back to full fitness now having been injured for the majority of the last campaign and while many criticise him for his ability, he often offers more to the team than suggested. Taking his time to get back to full match sharpness, shown by his lack of forward running.
NEMANJA VIDIC 7 - Decent game from the classy Serb but he'll be as disappointed as anyone to have let the three points slip from United's grasp. Enjoyable battle between himself and Zamora and could have got in on the scoring act with some close headers.
JONNY EVANS 7 - Didn't do a lot wrong like most of the United defence, and if Vidic can be described as 'classy' then it won't be long until this young man can take the same plaudits. Gaining more composure and confidence with every passing game.
PATRICE EVRA 6 - At fault for Fulham's first as he was skinned by the impressive Duff, but again, apart from that, not too much to criticise. Didn't attack as much as he often does, although given United's poor record at Craven Cottage in recent years, a conservative approach had to be expected.
ANTONIO VALENCIA 6 - Another pretty average performance from the Columbian wideman after a mediocre game against Newcastle. Tried his best to take on his man and fire in crosses but without much success. You have to say Konchesky won the battle between them.
PAUL SCHOLES 8* - Didn't boss the game like he did against Newcastle, as Fulham's busy midfield gave him less time on the ball. Nonetheless, what a strike for the opener - technically perfect - and once again, he was United's best player. Makes you wonder how on earth England allowed him to retire from international football - on a par with Xavi.
DARREN FLETCHER 6 - Played the holding midfielder role as opposed to the box-to-box position he usually adopts - and did it adequately, if unspectacularly. Usually sets United's tempo alongside Scholes, but seemed quieter in this clash.
JI-SUNG PARK 7 - What you've come to expect from the South Korean international in terms of work-rate, effort and desire but little more. Hughes' Fulham seem to have carried over the organisation shown under Hodgson, so a little more trickery and invention was needed to break them down than Park's committed performance.
DIMITAR BERBATOV 5 - Berbatov's rating perhaps may seem harsh, but for all his decent link-up play, he really must improve his finishing. Didn't miss any sitters today but had a host of half-chances that for a player of his undoubted quality, he really has to do better. They said Andy Cole needed five chances to score, but he still scored bucketfuls - wonder how many Berbatov needs to get one?
JAVIER HERNANDEZ 6 - The 'little pea' showed a lot of willingness to run the channels but in truth didn't offer a great deal in attack. He had a couple of long-range efforts but nothing really to justify his selection and if Rooney is still out for the next game, don't be surprised to see Hernandez back on the bench.
SUBSTITUTES:
NANI 5 - Did OK when coming on, but when you get a match-winning chance like a penalty, you've got to take it. United rued the Portuguese's miss, and one wonders if he'll be taking the next spot-kick for the Red Devils.
RYAN GIGGS 6 - Thrown on with ten minutes to go, didn't really get on the ball to strut his stuff so can't judge.
MICHAEL OWEN 6 - Not given enough time to make any sort of impact. Possibly had a hand in putting Hangeland off for the own goal, but we're clutching at straws for one of England's greatest goal-scorers.
