César Sánchez - 6.5 - Had nothing to do in the first half. Was much busier in the second half, though the only real shots on target for Bilbao were a few very weak headers. César did well to command his area, but he fell asleep for the goal. Too casual.
Bruno Saltor - 7 - Good display, not just by the right back, but the entire defense. Bruno had the right side shut down for virtually the entire match.
David Navarro - 7.5 - Very good game from the captain. Athletic were reduced to playing long pass football for most of the match, and the captain did well with multiple headers.
Ricardo Costa - 7.5 - Similar match to Navarro. Cleared everything in front of him, and let no one in behind.
Jérémy Mathieu - 7 - Good match. Got forward a few times and did his job defensively as well.
Mehmet Topal - 8.5 - Fantastic match by the Turkish international. Did the business on both offense and defense.
Manuel Fernandes - 8 - Solid match from the Portuguese international. Topal and Fernandes absolutely dominated Athletic in midfield.
Pablo Hernández - 7.5 - Great first half, but disappeared in the second.
Juan Mata - 7 - Disappeared as well in the second half after a good first 45 minutes.
Roberto Soldado - 7.5 - Great run to set up the first goal. Stayed busy until being subbed off.
Aritz Aduriz - 8 - Scored the first goal, though he should have had at least two. Missed a couple of decent chances.
Substitutes
Vicente Rodríguez - 7 - Didn't have much to do, but he was ready for action when called upon and did well to maintain his composure in front of goal when he scored with his weaker foot.
Chori Domínguez - 7 - Could probably say the same thing about Chori. He made the most of his one chance and did it very well indeed.
Sofiane Feghouli - 5 - Came on late to help defend.
