Mancini: There is no infighting and I do not fear the sackRoberto Mancini last night insisted he does not fear the sack after Manchester City sank to a third straight defeat.
The Blues boss claims he still controls the dressing room - despite all the bust-ups - and that he will achieve the club's target of Champions League football.
"Why should I worry about being fired?" said a defiant Mancini. "This does not exist. To say the team are against me is lies - all rubbish.
"There were some hard discussions with some players, but the team follows me and results are arriving.
"City are fourth in the standings and we were in second recently.
"
The club have asked me to qualify for next season's Champions League and we are going well to achieve that."
City fell to a flukely late second goal when Dedryck Boyata's header went in off the head of Lech Poznan's Manuel Arboleda and Mancini claims they were unlucky to suffer their first European defeat.
"I'm disappointed because we didn't deserve to lose the game," said the Italian. "Everything is against us. We are very unlucky. We played well had a lot of chances to score.
"We have lost the last three games, but tonight we didn't deserve to lose. That's football. Sometimes you play well and deserve to score.
"I was happy with the players. They played a good game and that's important. They're disappointed because we didn't deserve to lose the match.
"I think that we can change things and we must change this situation. It's a difficult situation, but we must pay more attention to the way we play. We can only change things if we stay together. That is always the same."
Mancini has been boosted by Carlos Tevez's return from Argentina and the striker is in line to play at West Brom on Sunday after training yesterday at Carrington.
Mancini will check on his talismanic striker today in training and is pleased he has shaken off his thigh injury.
"Carlos is important like the other players," he said. "We were missing 10 players, including Carlos, but we still had 20 good players.
"This game was very strange. If we played the game 100 times we would win 90 of them.
"But this is football. It's better that this happens now when we are still in the Europa League and fourth in the Premier League."
