Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini was delighted with how the 10-man Blues met the challenge of Bolton in Saturday's 1-0 victory at Eastlands.
Carlos Tevez scored after just four minutes and City, who had Aleksandar Kolarov sent off after 79 minutes, held on for the win.
Mancini, who also saw Mario Balotelli and David Silva hit the woodwork, told Sky Sports: "We had a lot of chances to score, and if you don't score again you risk another result.
"All the players did very well, they had a lot of chances to score."
He added: "Bolton are one of the best teams in the Premier League at the moment, they played very well and have a fantastic manager, and for us to win against them is important."
Mancini refused to get carried away with City's title chances after Chelsea again dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Everton at Stamford Bridge.
The City boss said: "This is not important. We must continue to work, the season is very long."
