Reports on the TalkSport website this morning suggest that Juventus are set to have a double transfer raid on Manchester City in the summer. First they are looking to recruit the current Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini to replace their current coach, Luigi De Neri – who has had a disappointing season with the Italian giants residing in seventh place in Serie A. But they also want to recruit Manchester City right back, Micah Richards.
Mancini is under some pressure at Manchester City, because the wealthy Arab owners are keen to see some silverware.
TalkSport suggest that Juve would be prepared to pay as much as £14m for defender Richards – who has suffered with injuries this season.
But the stumbling block in this double swoop may be the possibility of Champions’ League football. Reports close to Mancini suggest that the Italian is keen to have a crack at the competition. Manchester City would of course qualify for the elite tournament if they finish the season in their current position of fourth place.
It is also suggested that Mancini may want to stay at Manchester City if he gets his hands on the FA Cup trophy. That would be the first piece of silverware – Manchester City has won since 1976.
