Machester United Legends visit Mulligan’s Bar in Hoboken

A fan walked up to the panel of Manchester United Legends yesterday at Mulligan’s Bar on First Street and thanked the celebrated soccer players for visiting the Mile Square City.
Then he got to what was really on his mind.
“So, when is Manchester going to beat Barcelona?” he asked.
The panel laughed before former United player Andrew Cole answered directly.
“We accept them for what they can do, we just have to figure out how to close the gap,” Cole said.
Cole, along with former Manchester players Gary Neville and Paddy Crerand, were in town as a run-up to tonight’s game between Manchester United and the MLS All-Stars at Red Bull Arena in Harrison. The English Premier League team is staying at the W Hotel in town.
“I couldn’t believe they would be here,” Manchester fan Jeremy Lewis gushed yesterday at Mulligan’s. Lewis stopped by on his lunch break from work wearing a Manchester jersey over his tie and buttoned-down.
“For a Manchester fan, this is a big deal,” he said.
Mulligan’s owner Paul Dawson predicted a 2-2 tie at the end of regulation for tonight’s game.
“This is brilliant for Hoboken,” he said. “To have them (the legends) here and to hear their old soccer stories is great for the fans.”
The legends discussed their favorite memories on the field, the best team they’ve played and their favorite player on the team now.
Then they signed autographs and posed for photos.
Mulligan’s teamed up with One United USA, a Manchester United fan club in America, to host yesterday’s event.
“They (the legends) leave a lasting legacy and it was great to have them,” said David Herman, the public relations director for One United USA.
