The former Malaga coach, 59, said: “My first message is to tell all the fans of Manchester City that they will enjoy the season.
“They will enjoy the way we play, it will be an attractive and offensive style of play.
“I am sure all of us together will reach the targets Manchester City deserve.
“We need to add to what Roberto has done over the years but I hope we will start another way of playing football.
“I like attractive football, attacking football. I’d like all the people who come to see a wonderful show, maybe show is not the right word.
“But they will enjoy the way we play.”
With the exception of City’s title-winning season, goals were often hard to come by during Mancini’s 3½-year spell in charge.
But his successor wants City to become the entertainers and has promised a season to remember in the blue half of Manchester.
Pellegrini has attacking options envied around Europe in his star- studded squad — and he intends to maximise them.
He added: “We are not going to be a team that scores a goal then goes back waiting for a counter-attack.
“We will try to always play in the opponent’s half of the pitch and play attractive football.
“I have one month before I start, I have a lot to do to start the new season, to work with the players and see how far we can advance. I am sure we are going to have a very good season.”
