Carrick doubtful
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is a major doubt for England's friendly internationals against Chile and Germany.
The 32-year-old returned to the Reds' side to contribute to a fabulous 1-0 success against Arsenal at Old Trafford after missing the matches with Norwich City, Fulham and Real Sociedad due to an Achilles problem.
"I have been carrying the injury for a few weeks now," he admitted after Sunday's victory. "I was a bit patched up to play today. I got through it but it doesn't look too good."
Carrick was one of six Reds called into Roy Hodgson's squad for the two matches with Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney also selected. Welbeck has been sidelined since the draw with Southampton last month while Jones sustained a facial injury in a collision with Wojciech Szczesny but was able to continue and played the full 90 minutes.
