Liverpool boss Rodgers insists they can win league

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed plans for a transfer summit today.

Rodgers is set to meet Liverpool’s owners John W Henry and Tom Werner, who have travelled to Merseyside for Saturday’s game with Aston Villa.

"We have regular contact anyway," said Rodgers. "We will go for a meal and see where we are at, talk about many things as we always do. There is no motive for their visit other than just seeing where we are. They have a vision and strategy."

Benitez believes Manchester United will miss out on qualification.

But the Champions League winning boss has warned that luck with injury and suspensions must be on the Reds side because of the small size of their squad.

"I think it will be the season when my old club Liverpool will finish in the top four, and get back to experiencing the great Anfield Champions League nights which were very special to me," Benitez wrote in The Independent.

"I think there will be a changing of places because Liverpool coming fourth will mean Manchester United finishing outside of the Champions League.

METRO is reporting that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is involved in talks with several players over the possibility of moving to Anfield.

Liverpool have, according to Telegraph, registered their interest in Southampton duo Luke Shaw and Jay Rodriguez.
