Marouane Fellaini's brother Mansour caused a storm of confusion among Chelsea's staff before their key Premier League game against Manchester United on Saturday.
Hours before the match, Chelsea's doorman told Jose Mourinho that the Belgian international would not be playing - because he had come to collect tickets to watch the match instead.
Mourinho, who had focused on Fellaini's aerial threat in his plans all week, was initially stunned by the revelation.
His plans to play central defender Kurt Zouma in a defensive midfield role to deal with the Belgian international, something they had practiced by using 6ft 4in striker Ruben Loftus-Cheek in training, appeared to be in tatters.
But then, according to quotes in The Mirror, the canny Portuguese coach smelled a rat.
"I came down in the morning and the doorman said, 'Fellaini isn't playing'", said Mourinho.
When Mourinho asked the doorman why, he explained that someone had approached him and said, "I’m Fellaini and I’ve come to get tickets from my friend Eden Hazard."
"[It] didn't smell well for me" continued the former Real Madrid boss.
"I go to Google on my phone and I put in Fellaini brother. The guy is the same. So I go with the pictures to the doorman. I say, ‘This one or this one?’ He looks, ‘This one’.
“F*** off, he’s the brother!”.
