Sampdoria owner Massimo Ferrero wants just a few players to keep the side entertaining Serie A crowds next season, admitting that he is crazy about former striker Giampaolo Pazzini.
Released by AC Milan, the veteran frontman has been in talks over a return to the Blucerchiati, but although a deal remains uncertain the 63-year-old is adamant they will defeat the Rossoneri when they meet next term.
“In the first meeting with [Sinisa] Mihajlovic and Milan, we will win,” Ferrero told Sportitalia.
“The future of Sampdoria? It will be a team with seven or eight of the current team, then we will look to sign a couple of players who are hungry.
“It will be a very entertaining Sampdoria.
“I would like to sign [River Plate defender Eder Alvarez] Balanta this year after missing out on him in the past. There are also some names of Italian players.
“I’m crazy about Pazzini. The coach asked and I think a deal can be done, next year will be ours.
“It is not that repeating [our performance] next season will be difficult but that it is all very difficult.”
Ferrero expressed his desire to retain attacker Eder, admitting that a significant amount of money would be required to part with the Italian international.
“Eder? I have seen offers for a camel. He is a racehorse,” claimed Ferrero. “Without a lot of money he will not leave.
“Eder is mine and I [want to] keep him.”
