Globo Esporte reporting that Manchester United offered to pay Neymar’s €190m release clause last week.
Globo claims Woodward was in Barcelona for Neymar and the club refused the offer, but that both clubs don’t rule out a deal in the future.
Globo Esporte has proven to have an good track record regarding Neymar, this is a report that I consider believable.
Globo Esporte has been moderate on the reporting, they also have no need to peddle for rubbish like normal newspapers do.
I think the possibility of an offer for Neymar is feasible, Manchester United has the money too. But it was obvious that Barça would refuse.
If he wants the move, Neymar would have to deposit his €190m release clause himself, taxes would make it substantially more expensive.
Barcelona can refuse the offer, but they cannot impede Neymar from leaving if he deposits the €190m and rescinds his contract.
Sounds ridiculous that Neymar would seek a move after winning the treble and playing alongside Messi. Nothing to suggest it.
Barça’s wage bill is currently 73% of the budget, troublesome amount, but they are working on Neymar’s renewal at the moment.
Recently there were rumors that Barça isn’t financially sound, but selling a superstar would require a catastrophic situation.
Signing Neymar now is a pipe dream, but I do think its possible that an offer was submitted after Globo Esporte reported it.
