How Opposites Attract In Astrology Part 1
Of course opposites attract in the Astrology World! People still feel that pull, that urge that makes you want to get to know someone better, the feeling that makes you hang onto their every word, to reach out and…well, you get the idea. There are six pairs of opposing signs in the zodiac, or some call it the 7-7 pattern, as you will see on the Karmic Astrology Wheel. If you count signs, each opposite will be seven signs away from its mate. So without further ado, the couples are:
When we discuss opposites in Astrology, the one sign has and needs what the opposite one lacks. So they make each other complete. Of course, it’s not always quite that easy, but it can be. This pair also wants the same things from life, they just have different ways of approaching their goals.
The Aries and Libra Couple
Aries is a fire sign, Libra is an air sign, and fire needs air to burn. Aries people are blunt and to the point, making swift decisions, which may not be very well thought out. Libra is ruled by Venus, so they have a harmonious and soothing nature. Since the scales symbolize Libra though, it can take them forever to make up their minds. They think about every little thing from every point of view. Librans can charm you so easily that you may not even realize what you are agreeing to! They make great lawyers, because they can argue a point for hours and wrap anyone around their little finger. This can make an Aries person crazy. Another possible area of disagreement is that when an Aries person wants something, it can sound like a demand. Are they telling or asking? This attitude can seem rude, pushy, and impulsive. But when these two are under each other’s spell, the Aries will offer that big, open smile, and the Libran will be won over. When an Aries person gets angry, it’s over fast, like a thunderstorm. They are very forgiving. Aries people understand that Libran decisions are fair and logical, and respect that. Librans hear the word “decision” and they get nervous. Aries just dives in, thinks fast, then handles the situation. Libra wants to play it safe, but that can get boring. So Librans admire the Aries style of just doing what they think should be done and forgetting about it. Since Aries is the fire sign, one would probably think they have the most dangerous temper, right? Well, not really. Think about what air does, as in tornadoes, hurricanes or cyclones. Most people think Venus ruled Librans are always sweet and calm. And most of the time, they are. Just make sure you do not push them too far. You do not want those scales to tip!
Both Aries and Libra Want To Be The Leader
Another issue here is that both Aries and Libra are cardinal signs of leadership, meaning they both want their own way. Librans just want to win to achieve justice and peace. Aries wants to win just to prove they are right. They have a bit of an ego to protect. Most partnerships of Aries and Libra will be a great experience for both. What could be better than having an affair with the one who has all the traits you lack? Librans are free thinkers and act on their thoughts, which will make the Aries person feel more confident than they are (they lack confidence, but I didn’t tell you that). Libran kindness and gentleness will bring out the best in an Aries. The Aries person is more balanced and tolerant when with a Libran person, because their individuality is respected. The Libran may find that they are making more firm decisions, and inspired into higher achievements on a personal level when their Aries love is around. The Aries Ram will try to understand that the Libran needs to conserve energy to maintain balance, they aren’t just lazy. Most people are not as energetic as an Aries, with that Mars rulership. If the Aries truly tries to see both sides of a disagreement, the Libran will respond with affection and encouragement. A Libran does not like to be crabby or argumentative, but Aries must learn to fight fair. Once the Aries decides not to be unreasonable in their expectations, they will be rewarded with that famous Libran dimple. Recognizing Libra
First off, let me tell you there is no such thing as a 'typical' Libra! They hate being rude, but they will follow along behind you 'straightening' your picture frames and quietly rearranging your knick-knacks! (My mother developed this into an art form - drove my sisters right round the twist!) They are famous for mediating and patching up quarrels, yet they love a good argument - they are generally good natured and pleasant, yet at times can be quite sulky and hate taking orders - are extremely intelligent, yet are naive and gullible - can talk the ears off a field of corn then turn around and be exceptional listeners - they seldom rush or hurry, yet can be restless...confused yet? Welcome to the club!
Have you ever seen how a set of scales works? The trick is to match both sides so they balance, but achieving that isn't always pretty to watch. I knew a Libra who appeared to balance every single thought - it was really quite amusing. You could actually see the process mirrored in his expression! (Don't tell, but if you look closely, you can watch that same process with almost every Libra - some hide it a bit better, but it's still there!)
Never assume that Libra is a balanced sign - they can be, though generally a lot of thought and effort goes into the mix before they are, and the process can be painstaking, if not painful. If you keep in mind that for every feeling and action there is an opposite - organized/chaotic, lazy/workhorse, happy/depressed, soothing/annoying, or even peaceful/quarrelsome, and that every Libra (in order to be or maintain balance,) has attributes from both sides of the coin in varying degrees, then you might have a handle on understanding this Sun sign. If not, then I suggest you take up juggling...
Physical attributes
I'm warning you now, you need to be as astute at spotting a Libra's appearance as you are at identifying their personalities. There is no one-size-fits-all way of picking out this Sun sign from the crowd except for one possible feature - the Venus dimple. (Yes you read that correctly...)
Libra is pleasing, and their features are almost always well balanced, but they are not especially noticeable, so...back to the dimples. If you don't see any in their facial features, then they will usually be behind the knees or small of the back. Just keep in mind that any sign can have dimples if they have Libra or Venus in their charts.
The Venus born is curvy and can be slightly round, as opposed to sharp and angular. They have a softness about their features that lends others to believe Libra is a bit of a pushover. The Venus smile has the power to defrost your refrigerator and can turn the Libra's pleasant features into a vision of beauty, especially when accompanied by their melodic and infectious laugh, and Libra seldom raises his voice unless pushed to extremes.
The Libra woman will have a hefty dose of masculinity, and the Libra man will also exhibit signs of femininity. This does not mean that either one are any less a man or woman, just that this sign above others has the ability to combine a bit of both sexes for better understanding.
The Venus temperment
Many people who come in contact with Libra will misinterpret his need to weigh decisions and look at both sides of an issue before making up his mind, as being wishy-washy. But lets be fair - Libra can take an absurdly long time to come to a decision, and it can be very painful to endure - even for them! However, Libra is the true chameleon of the Zodiac, with the ability to submerge his ego for the sake of harmony and balance.
Remember that pushover comment? Don't let the softness around-the-edges fool you. Libra is hard as nails - he just chooses to wield that iron fist in a padded glove. After all, you can attract more bees with honey than with vinegar...
Libra instinctively knows that in order to keep himself balanced mentally and physically, he needs to have his downtime...which gives rise to the "Lazy Libra" slogan. When the scales are in need of balancing, Libra can become quite a lethargic couch potato - able to sleep hours at a single stretch! However, look out when they are done hibernating - it will be hard to catch one sitting still long enough to eat.
And speaking of eating...
One weakness for the Libra person, is the tendancy to overindulge - whether it's food, drink, work or play. (Personally, I prefer the food...) Generally, the Venus makeup is healthier than most, unless they don't give in to their natural tendancies to rest when it's needed, so often times the over indulgences get overlooked. However, their waistlines will show the slip ups!
In conclusion
Few Librans are show offs or terribly eccentric, even if they do have a slightly twisted sense of humour. Most of them are well balanced, wholesome - girl/boy next door types and are honest in business - personal and otherwise. They are seldom careless, preferring instead to take their time and do it right the first time, instead of the alternative.
The Libran dislikes exaggeration, however I know of several who enjoy the telling of tall tales, and the majority of them are deep thinkers, even if they give the illusion of being rather shallow and flighty. They love the richness of colour, music, and words, both spoken and written, and are artistic souls at heart.
The Venus influence insures a Libra home will be comfortable and welcoming, regardless of size or stature, and there will generally be a fairly extensive library hiding in the wings. Should you decide to visit, and bring a book or movie along, make sure you have a snack or beverage in the other hand...after all...balance is everything!
