A Russian military official stated on Friday that the Russian Air Force continues to carry out between 20-25 sorties per day in Syria. The recent reduction of their military arsenal in Syria appears to have more to do with the substantial decrease in the number of sorties carried out by the Russian Air Force, rather than their fear of being locked into a long conflict. The Russian Air Force has continued its aerial campaign over the large swathes of desert terrain that is currently under the control of the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in eastern Syria; these attacks have not dissipated.

3) Russian Chief of Staff confirms military operations against terrorists will continue
The Chief of Staff of the Russian Armed forces confirmed on Friday that the military operations against the terrorist groups in Syria will continue. “We understand Syrians are concerned, but the reduction decision does not stop our military operations. Our reduction decision was fully coordinated with President Bashar Al-Assad and we have a sufficient number of aircraft inside the country to monitor Syrian airspace and to ensure the proper functionality of the ceasefire. We will continue to support the Syrian Forces in their fight against terrorist organizations like the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra.” The Russian Chief of Staff concluded his speech by reassuring the Syrian people that Russia has not abandoned them.

The arrival of the Syrian Marines and Desert Hawks today was confirmed by the Syrian battlefield correspondent Eyad Al-Hussein, who took pictures with this large military force. The Syrian Arab Army’s 81st and 120th brigades of the 2nd Division – backed by the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) and Dara’ Qalamoun (Qalamoun Shield) – imposed full control over a strategic mountaintop in the Homs Governorate’s southeastern countryside on Thursday, putting an end to the one week long stalemate at this desert front. According to an Al-Masdar field correspondent, the Syrian Armed Forces liberated the imperative mountaintop of Jabal Maskar Al-Nimr after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) near the important desert-city of Quraytayn.

6)Syrian Army, Hezbollah capture ISIL trenches near Palmyra
The Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces” – backed by Hezbollah, Liwaa Imam ‘Ali (Iraqi paramilitary), and the Desert Hawks Brigade – liberated more sites near the strategic city of Palmyra (Tadmur) on Thursday after a violent series of clashes with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). According to the official Tiger Forces media page, the Syrian Armed Forces and their allies liberated several ISIL trenches at the village of Wadi Dhakara after steadily advancing in Palmyra’s northern countryside.
