Rodwell commits to Everton
Teenager snubs reported interest from United, Arsenal and Chelsea
Everton have announced that Jack Rodwell has signed a new five-year contract at Goodison Park.
The England Under 21 international had been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea after a number of impressive, versatile performances in midfield and defence.
But Rodwell has snubbed the reported interest in order to pledge his future to David Moyes' ambitious Everton side until 2015.
United were understood to be considering a £15million bid for the 19-year-old as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to build a British core to a side who will eventually have to cope without the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville.
Riches
Rodwell, though, has not been tempted by the potential riches on offer at Old Trafford and has agreed a deal with Everton that is thought to be worth £30,000-a-week.
Moyes said: "I'm very pleased that Jack has signed an improved contract because it re-affirms Everton's ambition to challenge the top clubs.
"I want to keep all the players we have here to make us stronger in the coming season."
Rodwell made his full Toffees debut as a substitute against AZ Alkmaar at the age of just 16 years and 284 days in December 2007, to become the youngest Everton player to play in Europe, although his record was subsequently beaten by Jake Bidwell last December.
His Premier League bow came in March 2008 when he made a substitute appearance at Sunderland and since then he has developed into a first-team regular.

Rodwell signed a new five-year contract on Monday, keeping him at Goodison Park until 2015. The deal ends media speculation linking the 19-year-old with a move away from Merseyside.
And the player himself has revealed that he pays little attention to paper talk, instead preferring to focus on his own development.
"I am made up," Rodwell told evertontv with the ink still drying on his contract. "This is the day I have been looking forward to since I was a kid and I am delighted to sign.
"I don't really pay attention to any speculation," he added. "It's flattering to see yourself linked with major clubs but I am happy here and looking forward to concentrating on my football."
Rodwell played 36 times for the Toffees last term, scoring four goals and gaining widespread plaudits for his performances in midfield.
As the 2009/10 season drew to a close David Moyes revealed that negotiations over a new contract were progressing well and Rodwell is delighted to have his future sorted.
"It's good to get it out the way," he said. "Now I can relax over the summer and look forward to pre-season. I have progressed a lot in the last couple of years, and gained a lot of experience so hopefully that will continue."
