At least one person has reportedly died after an explosion in an Istanbul airport.
Two female cleaners were injured in the blast at 2.05am this morning in the city’s Sabiha Gokcen airport, however, no passengers were hurt and an spokesperson told Reuters operations were continuing as normal.
It is believed the explosion – the cause of which has not been determined – went off in the landing and loading bay of the international airport in Turkey near a Pegasus Airlines aeroplane.

In a statement, the company confirmed two women had been injured in the blast and were taken to the Pendik Research and Training Hospital. One of the women received a “serious” wound to her head while the other was wounded in her hand.
Armed police imposed tight security checks on the airport’s entrances this morning, as well as searching vehicles around the travel hub.
Investigations into the cause of the blast were on-going.
