Dear Georgian friends,
My name is Aleksandar Mikich. I am a plant geneticists and live in the city of Novi Sad in Serbia.
I am a great admirer of your ancient national culture, especially both popular and Orthodox music.
I am also a great fan of the Asterix comics. I have been collecting them since I was 6 and now have its episodes in more than 100 languages.
I know that there is still no official publisher of Asterix adventures in Georgia and thus I wanted to invite any of you, who feel able and willing to do so, to join me in translating and making the first episode of Asterix in Georgian. The process would be as follow:
- Somebody among you, willing to translate Asterix into Georgian, contacts me at aleksandar.m.mikich@gmail.com;
- I send him or her a pdf of one episode as a pdf file, either in English or Russian or both;
- He or she translates the episodes as a simple text file in the form of a MSWord file, of course, using your beautiful script, and send the translation to me;
- I insert the lines in Georgian in the Asterix episode and make a printable pdf file and send it to you.
I do guarantee that I am doing this only because of my personal wish to have an episode in Georgian language and will have no any financial profit from your work: that means that I would not share it or sell it to nobody, while you would be free to do whatever you wish with it - to print it, to exchange it among your people or distribute among the children as a nice and useful comic book.
Please know that I am ready to negotiate with the one or ones who accept this invitation to pay you for your work. I have already have such experience: one person of the Komi people is translating one Asterix episode into Komi language for 50 EUR. One episode of Asterix usually contains between 4,000 and 4,500 words.
In the end, please know that I am ready to do all this not only for Georgian, but also for the other languages and dialects spoken in your country, in case there is someone among you who can translate Asterix into them, such as Svan, Laz, Mingrelian, Abkhaz or Ossetian, with the same arrangements as described above. Also, if there is some specific dialect or slang spoken in Tbilisi, that is different from the standard literary Georgian language and what is typical for all country capitals, the offer is the same.
Please do not worry about copyrights: because our joint work would be used only for personal or educational use, we do not need a permission from the French publisher.
Thank you very much and advance and looking forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,
Dr. Aleksandar Mikich Novi Sad Serbia aleksandar.m.mikich@gmail.com
