Turkey closed the Bosporus and the Dardanelles for Russia - Erdogan
Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a statement on the closure of the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits for Russian ships, as they carry a military threat to the country from Russia.
In particular, it is said that this decision is based on the Montreux Convention of 1936. Thus, the way through the Black Sea to Russia is closed, and because of this, it becomes impossible to support the Syrian regime of Bashar Assad.
Now the Russian Navy will have to pave the way three times longer through Gibraltar.
