President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania met with the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The meeting was held at the state cottage in Pitsunda.

Welcoming the President of Belarus, Aslan Bzhania said: "Bziala waaabeit, Alexander Grigory-ipa! Welcome, Alexander Grigorievich! You are a long-awaited and highly desired guest for us."
The President of Abkhazia recalled that in January 1996, at the Council of Heads of States members of the CIS, it was Alexander Lukashenko who spoke against the post-war economic blockade of Abkhazian.
"You said that isolation, economic blockade of Abkhazia is the wrong decision. Abkhazia knows about it and appreciates it. We are bound by good human relationships. We are very pleased to have your arrival," Bzhania said.
The President of Abkhazia expressed confidence that the visit of the President of Belarus would give a new impetus to relations between the two peoples.
"We will make sure that they are as they were in the good Soviet times. Welcome to Abkhazia! ", - said Bzhania.
Alexander Lukashenko thanked Aslan Bzhania for his kind words.
“Nostalgia never leaves us. In the distant past, maybe 25-27 years old I was on this holy land. Of course not the president. You can say, an ordinary person, a Member of Parliament. Yesterday we discussed the problems of Abkhazia with our older brother Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. There are a lot of us who discussed these issues until the night and came to one conclusion that Abkhazia cannot be abandoned. It should be helped to ensure that this blooming region, the people who live here, live normally," Alexander Lukashenko said.
According to the President of Belarus, his visit to Abkhazia is not related to any special situation.
"We have a normal situation. We are not suffering from any geopolitics. We are just, like you, a peaceful, kind, hardworking people and want to live in harmony. And the economy, trade-economic ties should become the foundation of our relationship. Nothing else is given," Lukashenko noted.
The President of Belarus offered to discuss issues of how to live further, how to strengthen relations.
“I am an experienced person, many years in politics. Let's talk, think about how to live on. The main thing is that the people live here with dignity, because it is a paradise corner of the earth, and people here are holy. I remember it from the Soviet times when I was here. Therefore, we want to build not just a bridge of friendship, but a very serious relationship," Lukashenko emphasized.
He noted that Belarus and Russia are coordinating their actions.
"Russia is ready to offer its shoulder. I guess it's time. Today, more than ever, we have seen what the world has become. They won't let us live in peace. Therefore, we have to strengthen relationships with our friends," he said.

President Aslan Bzhania confirmed that the situation in the world is very complicated.
"We closely monitor events that are happening in the world. Every citizen of Abkhazia is concerned about it. You probably know that our citizens are fighting today in the Donbass. Unfortunately, there are also dead citizens of Abkhazia," Bzhania said.
